Brittany Gerard is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who is committed to working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  Brittany values building a strong sense of rapport with patients through transparency, validation, and humor. Brittany believes in working together to process the patient’s most pressing challenges, helping them adopt healthy coping behaviors that allow them to not only live a life they love, but one where they thrive.

Brittany utilizes various evidenced-based approaches to care, such as cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, play/creative, narrative, bibliotherapy, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy strategies.

Brittany’s clinical interests include a variety of presenting issues, such as: eating disorders, grief, trauma, anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, school and academic issues, identity development, relationship difficulties, communication, stress management, self-esteem challenges, behavioral challenges, divorce, family conflict, as well as social skills struggles.

Background

Brittany has previous clinical experience working in schools, community mental health, crisis lines, advocacy, and college counseling. Brittany earned her Master of Education in Counseling degree from DePaul University. Brittany earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Literature degree from University of Illinois at Chicago.

Brittany has furthered her education completing continuing education in the following areas: trauma and PTSD, suicidality, intimate partner and domestic violence, professional wellness and self-care, and LGTBQIA+ issues. Brittany is also working toward her TF-CBT Certification.

Brittany is a professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC), and National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Brittany is a strong ally of body positivity, LGTBQIA+, HIV/AIDS, open relationship non-monogamy, racial justice, sex worker, sex-positive/kink, single mothers and fathers, vegan, and veterans.
